FMSQ Chainéland endurocross race report

Last weekend, Eve decided to participate in her first FMSQ endurocross race ( Harescamble ) in years. Last time was in Ormstown on her supermini at 11 years old.

The forecast for the week were for rain up until Thursday and sunny on the weekend. As usual they were wrong and it rained up until Saturday afternoon in Victoriaville and the Saturday quad race was a mud fest.
The track worker did some great work Saturday night and Sunday morning and we ended up having some pretty decent condition for the 1.5 hour morning race. Eve had never race her big bike in the trails or outside any closed course motocross track so we didn't how she would handle it in the woods.

The start went perfectly; she grabbed the holeshot and pulled away from the pack pretty quickly on the slippery grass start section (Thanks to those new Dunlop tires). After the first coupled of turns; she had a 15 second lead on 2nd place rider. Laps were around 15 minutes around. She came back from the first lap with a 40 second lead and maintained that lead at a steady pace for 2 laps.

On lap 3 she made a couple of mistakes in the wood section and it was the lap we had schedule for a gas stop. We did a quick gas stop only to see the 2nd place rider go by as we got Eve back on the track. It was just enough to pump her adrenaline up a bit and she went after her raging through the grass track and wood section.

She came back from the wood section with close to 2 minute lead over 2nd place again. She then kept the same steady pace for the last half an hour and crossed the checkered flag in first place. It was her first time ever she had to race for 1 hour and 40 minutes and she was exhausted and slept all the way back home after the race.

Eve would like to thank all of the people who made this possible:

Last weekend was the last and final round of the CMRC/AMXQ Quebec Provincial series at Motocross Deschambault. After a deceiving weekend in NDBC last week in which Eve went down hard and eventually lost the point lead in the women A class, Eve was feeling 100% going into Deschambault and was ready to show why she is considered one of the fastest Canadian women racer at only 13 years of age.

Saturday was the schoolboy and Women open class, she managed to pull the holeshot in 3 out of 4 races she entered that day on her powerful KTM 144cc 2 stroke bike, mounted on Dunlop MX11 tires.

In the schoolboy class she rode consistent and her overall finish for the day was enough to secure 3rd place in the championship chase.

In the Women open class she took the win in the first race of the day and it was enough to secure her first ever Women class championship.

On Sunday she race the Women A class and was down 10 points in the
championship chase to #373 Kim Normandin. The Goal for the day was to put 2 dominant rides together and just hopes somebody would put Kim to a challenge and steal some precious points away from her.

Eve pulled 2 holeshots, and easily won both races but the second portion didn't happened and although Kim made a couple of mistake and went down 2 or 3 times, Eve and Kim were so dominant that no one was a challenge for either one of them. In the end she ended up 2nd in the championship title just 4 points down on first place.

Overall it's been a great season so far :
·    3rd CMRC eastern Pro Women National (with one DNF and 5 second place finish)
·    3rd Walton Transcan Canadian Amateur National in the women class
·    1st CMRC/AMXQ Women Open
·    2nd CMRC/AMXQ Women A
·    3rd CMRC/AMXQ Schoolboy
·    8th overall class win in 8 weekends in the CMRC/AMXQ
·    18th race win in the 2 Women’s class out of a possibility of 29 races

(making her by far the most dominant rider in Quebec)

Now it’s time for some off season races with no pressure and just plain fun. On the Menu: some Local racing, some enduros (harescramble), a beach race and some Arenacross.
