Quebec Provincial round 7

Last weekend was the second to last round of the Quebec Provincial series in Notre-dame-du-bon-conseil, On Saturday, Eve placed 5th in the schoolboy class and 1st in the Women open class.

On Sunday she was competing in the Junior (Novice) MX3 where she placed 19th out of 37 rider. In the women A class, she was running in first place when she took a hard crash over the 110' step down jump, she got up in pain and still managed to finish 4th.

We decided to opt out of the second Junior MX3 race. She made it to line for the last race of the Women A class, but went in in survival mode, just riding around not jumping any jump, trying to salvage some point for the championship.

Eve has already started her daily physical training routine and will be 100% ready coming next weekend for the last Provincial race of the season.

Walton National and Xtown race reports

We are just back from spending the week at the Canadian Amateur National race in Walton Ontario. As usual Walton was a blast. Nice weather, good racing, great results and spending the all week with my MX family never gets boring. I was racing the Ladies and MX2 Junior class.

In the Ladies, I didn't get good starts in the first 2 out of 3 races but managed to make my way in the top 3 in both of these races. In the first race of the week, I was actually battling for 2nd place and was trying to make a pass stick when 2nd place rider tried to cut into my line and crashed, taking both of us down. I got up in 5th place and fought hard and got back into 3rd on the last lap. In the second race I started in 7th place and was up to 3rd within 1.5 lap but the first 2 racers had already check out and I had lost contact with them. I rode smart and kept the pace to finish on the podium for the second time in 2 races.

Last race of the Ladies class was on Saturday and we decided to try a different starting technique and it paid off as I started in 2nd place. I put my head down and rode consistent for a good 18 minutes, battling and protecting my fast lines from a hard charging Kennedy Lutz to hold on to second on the checkered flag. My 3-3-2 finish was good enough for 3rd place overall. In the MX2 Junior class, a 15-17-17 finish gave me a 16th place overall for the week.

Before leaving for Walton I raced the Xtown Show in Mirabel, an outdoor supercross type of event with the finals under a temporary lightning system on a shortened Xtown track. In both Ladies race I fell in the first lap, started in dead last and made my way up to first within 2 laps to win both the qualifier and the final race of the night.

Nous sommes tout juste de retour de Walton après avoir participé au Championnat National Amateur Canadien. J'ai coursé en femme et en Junior MX2. En femme, j'ai eu de la difficulté avec mes départs lors des 2 premières courses mais j'ai remonté en 3e place les 2 fois. Lors de la première course, moi et la fille en 2e position avons chuté quand elle a coupé ma ligne alors que je tentais un dépassement. Je me suis relevé en 5e place et remonté en 3e avant la fin du dernier tour. Lors de la deuxième course je suis décollé en 7e place et par le temps que je dépasse les positions 4, 5 et 6, les 2 premières avaient pris une considérable avance. J'ai roulé conservatrice et terminé encore une fois sur le podium.

La dernière course en Femmes avait lieu le samedi en nous avons tenté une technique différente pour le départ et ça a portée fruit puisque je suis parti en 2e place. J'ai foncé et roulé agressive en utilisant les lignes de course les plus rapides pendant un bon 18 minutes pour terminer en 2e place. Mes positions finales de 3-3-2 m'ont permis de terminé en 3e position au combiné. En Junior MX2 j'ai terminé 15-17-17 pour un combiné de 16.

Avant de partir pour Walton nous avons coursé au Xtown Show à Mirabel, une version plus petite du supermotocross avec les finales en soirée sous les réflecteurs sur une version écourtée de la piste de Xtown. Lors des 2 courses (qualification et finale) je suis tombé au premier tour, repartit en dernière place et remonter première en moins de 2 tours.
